Alaska#65

Brown Bear on Brooks River, Alaska, USA.  Nikon D4S with Nikkor 200-500mm f5.6 lens.  I like this image due to the human like tongue out expression on the bear’s face.

This concludes my Alaska series.  Tomorrow, I shall change topics and post other work.

Alaska#56

Brown Bear on Brooks River, Alaska, USA.  After lunch, we hired a guide from Brooks Lodge and went wading in Brooks River, for several hours.  This pretty much put  us in the same space as the bears with no separation.  All the Bear and Salmon shots so far were made from a safe deck – while we got uninterrupted view of the bears in their natural environment, we were separated by a wooden fence and we were safely behind it at a height.  This wading experience is totally different, being in the same space.  This shot and the remaining shots in the Alaska series, were made under such circumstances.  During this session, I realized that bears don’t attack humans without reason.  If we clear the path and allow them to be, they are not bothered by us humans.  Nikon D4S with Nikkor 200-500mm f5.6 lens.
